The Connecting Thread That Keeps Edward Norton Coming Back To Wes Anderson Films

Whimsy and pathos Searchlight Pictures Edward Norton spent his time honing his craft and performing in off-Broadway productions until he was discovered in 1995. It was then he was cast for the film “Primal Fear,” based on the novel of the same name. His performance as an altar boy accused of murdering a Catholic archbishop received critical acclaim and set him on a rocket ship to stardom. He would go on to star in such films as “Fight Club,” “American History X,” and “The Incredible Hulk” (which he actually wrote the screenplay for), all before finally linking up with Wes Anderson for “Moonrise Kingdom....

The Daily Stream The Beastmaster Remains The Scrappy Weird Alternative To Conan The Barbarian

Why it’s essential viewing MGM “Essential viewing” might be a bit much, but “The Beastmaster” is a fascinating entry into the sword and sorcery subgenre. It was developed at the same time as a little movie called “Conan the Barbarian,” which would go on to spawn a franchise and make a star out of its Austrian bodybuilder lead. “The Beastmaster” was always going to be the underdog in this fight. Its budget was much more limited than the epic John Milius movie and poor Marc Singer is no match for the charisma machine that is Arnold Schwarzenegger, but in many ways that’s the movie’s strength....

The Strangers Everything We Know So Far About The Reboot Trilogy

The Strangers: Everything We Know So Far About The Reboot Trilogy Universal Pictures By Matthew Bilodeau/Nov. 2, 2022 1:25 pm EST Part of the reason why “The Strangers” has endured as an effective horror movie is that we’ve all had that feeling of being home alone at night, yet it still feels like there’s something else watching us from the shadows. After 85 minutes of homebound terror, the words “because you were home” make all of the preceding violence sound so hauntingly meaningless....

Alfred Hitchcock Knew When To Give Cary Grant Room To Work

Alfred Hitchcock Knew When To Give Cary Grant Room To Work Paramount Pictures By Demetra Nikolakakis/Sept. 28, 2022 1:35 pm EST There’s just something about Old Hollywood’s leading men. Equal parts suave and brooding, it’s easy to feel as though they could charm their way into anything (a feat no doubt influenced by film noir’s popularity in ’40s and ’50s — and the genre’s moody coolness). But while it may be tempting to brush off the allure as Hollywood glamour, Cary Grant nevertheless charmed his way into one of the most difficult places to reach: Alfred Hitchcock’s heart....

Every Character In Werewolf By Night Ranked Worst To Best

Billy Swan Disney+ Billy Swan is the servant at the Bloodstone estate — presumably a long-serving one, given his age and crooked demeanor. Played by Al Hamacher, he seems to be (justifiably) terrified of his employer, Verussa, barely daring to inform her of the unexpected appearance of her stepdaughter, Elsa, amongst the throng of arriving monster hunters. He’s given the important (and, apparently, exhausting) task of reanimating his old boss, Ulysses, with a clockwork key, but features little in Verussa’s machinations....
