The Lord Of The Rings The Rings Of Power Hits Pause And Takes A Deep Breath Before The Plunge In The Eye

Picking up the pieces Prime Video After last week’s cliffhanger left the fates of Galadriel, Halbrand (Charlie Vickers), Queen Míriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), the Númenorean army, and the Southlanders all up in the air, I’ll admit I approached episode 7 with some concern over whether credited writer Jason Cahill and director Charlotte Brändström would opt to skip over resolving this storyline altogether. It would’ve been a justifiable (if frustrating) creative choice to save the meatiest arc for what will surely be a show-stopping finale next week, to be fair, but thankfully it takes no time at all to return us to the devastation wrought by Adar, his orcs, and the traitorous Southlander Waldreg (Geoff Morrell) after the violent eruption of what turns out to be Mount Doom....

10 Underrated Disaster Movies That Deserve A Watch AVCO Embassy Pictures By Eric Langberg/Nov. 8, 2022 2:38 pm EST The disaster film comes and goes. The genre was massive in the 1970s, leading to classics like “The Towering Inferno” and “The Poseidon Adventure.” It saw a resurgence in the ’90s thanks to hits like “Armageddon” and “Dante’s Peak,” and there’s been a slight bump over the past decade, too — think “Skyscraper” and “San Andreas,” both starring The Rock....

Bad Times At The El Royale Ending Explained: The Misdirection Of Morality 20th Century Studios By Lyvie Scott/Dec. 3, 2022 5:00 pm EST Seven strangers all harboring a secret descend on a hotel for one bloody, eventful night. It’s the kind of premise that’s fueled many a hard-boiled noir, one that continues to inspire pastiche filmmakers today. “Bad Times at the El Royale” director Drew Goddard spun an incredibly nuanced web out of this simple conceit, using it to comment on a myriad of themes that dominated the 1960s....

Creatives seemingly need to jump through endless hoops and pass all sorts of tests, and in the end, it can all come down to the personal whims of some executive. It’s hard to believe that a show like “The Simpsons,” which has been around for more than 30 years at this point, also at one point struggled just to get made....
